The Festival benefits the majority of Sidmouth town businesses and many organisations within the area. There is wide acceptance that to sustain the event, some of this benefit should be reinvested in the Festival through significant sponsorship.
Recognising this, the Festival offers a range of sponsorship packages, from Bronze level through to the elite Platinum level. These differentiated categories provide sponsors with benefits through graded packages of advertising; promotional opportunities via FolkWeek media and at events; and invitations to attend FolkWeek performances.
Each package offers participating businesses considerable direct exposure to festival attendees and publicity across the region to help enhance image and business levels.
We also operate a separate Business Supporters Scheme which, for a small donation, allows local businesses and organisations to show their support for the Festival in a practical way. In return, we will actively promote Business Supporters through our FolkWeek social media
FolkWeek sponsors, advertisers and supporters are also provided with posters to display in their businesses and Festival attendees are encouraged to give our sponsors, advertisers and supporters their custom during FolkWeek.
Major Sponsorship Programme
The Festival also offers a Major Sponsorship programme. The objective of this programme is to create business partnerships which meet the needs of significant sponsors through tailored programmes, associated with main areas of the Festival, high profile venues and specific events. More details are available on request.

Sidmouth Town Council
Sidmouth Town Council’s long term commitment to supporting the Festival has again been affirmed, demonstrating a clear vision of the importance of this internationally renowned event to the health of the town as a resort and to its businesses. In particular, Town Council support has enabled us to enrich the Children’s Festival, successfully rebuild our Social Dance programme and to programme stronger line-ups at our main venues. All areas of the Festival benefit from this support, as does the Festival’s professional structure.
Devon County Council
We are grateful to our Devon County Council Member Stuart Hughes’s Locality fund for its support of the Festival, which is so important to Devon as a whole. This funding enables us to strengthen our main concert programme, create clear Festival information at key points and add to the unique Festival atmosphere around the whole town.
East Devon District Council
East Devon District Council gives significant assistance in support services and the use of venues and facilities, thus enabling the complex task of running FolkWeek to be undertaken effectively and smoothly. Many EDDC departments give important advice and support and we are grateful to the Council leaders, Executive and their support staff for this.
Sidmouth Town Council Middle Bar Singers’ Reunion Weekend
During the year, a number of events take place which raise funds for the Festival, in particular, the Middle Bar Singers Reunion Weekend in February, not forgetting to mention their collections during the Festival. Many thanks to the singers and their supporters and to all other individuals and organisations that make donations to Sidmouth FolkWeek.
The English Folk Dance and Song Society support FolkWeek with a series of Folk Rising Plus concerts featuring young
performers, many of whom the Society have actively supported in their careers. Thanks to Katy Spicer for the Society’s continuing support.
Our media sponsors are back with Cellar Full of Folkadelia bringing new dimensions to the concert programme. Thanks to Ian Anderson for continuing media support and programming ideas.
